If your Samsung device is a bit sluggish, then it could mean your cache is getting overfilled. The cache is a part of your device storage that houses temporary data. It helps apps and web pages to open more quickly by speeding up access to frequently used info.
Whether you use your Samsung tablet at home or for customer-facing activities, such as signing in at events, checking the menu at a restaurant, or for self-service kiosks in retail or hospitality, then you want to make sure that it works perfectly.
This means periodically clearing the cache to remove images and data stored locally on your device, for apps you use often.
Why does a full cache slow down your device?
As the cache starts to fill up, your device might struggle to keep up. The processor has to search through more data to find what it wants. It might also put pressure on the RAM, as it takes more memory to manage a full cache.
If that cache gets too full, your device will start grinding to a halt and apps might even crash. To prevent this, you need to go through your device and clear the cache of certain apps. We’ll explain exactly how to do this below.
How to clear app caches on a Samsung device
Step 1 – Open Settings
Swipe down from the top of your device screen and tap the little cog icon to open your device settings.
Step 2 – Open Apps
Scroll down to the Apps section and tap on it.
Step 3 – Select the app
Scroll until you see the app that needs its cache clearing and tap on it.
Step 4 – Tap storage
Scroll down and tap the Storage section.
Step 5 – Clear the cache
At the bottom of the screen, tap the icon that says “Clear cache”. The cache will be cleared.
The space used for the cache of that particular app will now show as zero bytes.
How to optimize your Samsung device
If your device is still running slowly after clearing the cache of certain apps, there’s another way to possibly speed things up. Follow the steps below to optimize your Samsung tablet.
Step 1 – Go to settings
Open the settings on your device.
Step 2 – Tap Battery and device care
Scroll down until you see “Battery and device care” and tap on it.
Step 3 – Tap Optimize Now
Tap the blue button to optimize your device.
The device will run an optimization procedure and update you as to what it has done. Tap “Done” when ready.
Now your Samsung device should be running up to speed. If not, then you might need to do some further troubleshooting. You can find more support here: https://www.samsung.com/support/
